Community Care Partnership of Maine, an Accountable Care Organization in Bangor comprised of 11 member health care organizations throughout Maine, said it achieved shared savings of $4.3 million in 2016, its fi rst year of participation in the Medicare Shared Savings Program. A total of $2.1 million in shared sav- ings will be returning to the organiza- tion and its member organizations — all of which are federally qualifi ed health centers or critical access and community hospitals who are collec- tively committed to improving the qual- ity and effectiveness of health care delivery and reducing unnecessary health care costs. Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor and Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth entered into a partnership to address the shortage of registered nurses in the Ellsworth Region. The college will now provide general education courses required for the associate of science in nurs- ing degree at Hancock County Higher Education Center in Ellsworth, in an- ticipation of offering nursing courses at the site beginning fall of 2018. A cohort of up to eight students will be selected to participate in the program. American Airlines to launch NYC service from jetport e Portland International Jetport announced that American Airlines, its largest carrier, will begin nonstop service to New York's LaGuardia Airport starting April 3, 2018. e new service will be operated twice daily on 50-seat regional jets. American Airlines is the largest carrier at the Portland International Jetport with existing service to Charlotte, N.C., Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Last year the jetport had record traffi c, with 1,785,649 passengers, surpassing the previous record of 1,762,925 passen- gers set in 2008.
