Our vision is a beautiful riverfront park system that is highly recognized and widely utilized as a unique regional asset. We accomplish this through cultural, recreational and educational engagement. BOARD OF DIRECTORS Connecting people to the Connecticut River is what Riverfront Recapture is all about. And we do that in so many different ways. Our four parks along the riverfront in Hartford and East Hartford offer direct access to the river and green space for recreation and fun. Riverfront produces a variety of events, community festivals, concerts, charity walks and runs that draw people from throughout the region. We now offer weekday programming in our parks including free yoga, fitness classes, meditation and a weekly happy hour during the summer. Our community rowing program is the second largest in New England, and our Adventure program offers the opportunity for groups of all sizes to learn leadership, trust and team building skills. A series of Riverwalks connect our parks with miles of paved, well-lit paths for walking, running and cycling. Plans are currently underway to expand our Riverwalk system to continue to connect the region and offer increased access to the river. In 2016, more than 627,000 people visited our parks. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES The Big Mo', our largest annual fundraiser, offers a great opportunity to be part of the region's momentum as the event is always held at a venue under construction or renovation. Sponsorship, ticket purchases and a program book are all available. In-kind support from restaurants is always welcome and contributes to making Big Mo' one of the best parties of the year in the region. Individuals can also participate in our own Run for the Riverfront 5K, held each fall. Participants can run, row or erg a 5K with net proceeds supporting Riverfront's parks, events and programs. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES Individual, corporate and foundation support is essential to Riverfront Recapture's operations on an annual basis. Gifts of all levels are important, and we hope donors feel invested in what their combined contributions provide to the community. In-kind contributions are welcome, with most providing technical and professional expertise and service with our physical and operational infrastructure needs. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES The majority of Riverfront volunteers are corporate and civic groups that come together to assist in park beautification and grounds work, from April to November. Individuals also help at all levels of events and provide occasional in-office support. R iverfront Recapture does a wonderful job with activating the parks system with summer programming, performances and other events. From food trucks to outdoor happy hours to evening yoga, one can attend a diverse array of events on any given day in the summer. – Nick Addamo , urban planner, CDM Smith, Hartford (Top left) Riverfront Adventure youth program in an exercise called connecting people and space; funding support by the Ensworth Charitable Fund, Petit Family Foundation, and other donors.
