FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES • United Way Women's Leadership Council's Power of the Purse Luncheon and Silent Auction: The fundraiser supports the Family Financial Stability Initiative, helping women and families in our community become financially stable. • United Way Women's Leadership Council's Red, Wine and Chocolate: The wine and chocolate tasting benefits the work to help women and families become financially secure. • United Way Emerging Leaders Society's Boogie for Books: The dance-a-thon improves education for children in our community with the purchase of new books and services through United Way. • United Way Emerging Leaders Society's Spin for Kids: The spin-a-thon funds educational programs and services through United Way for children and youth in our community. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES • Sponsor a United Way Community Campaign in your workplace. • Make a gift online at unitedwayinc.org/donate. • Sponsor an event (e.g., United Way Year of Caring; Women's Leadership Council's Power of the Purse Luncheon and Silent Auction; Emerging Leaders Society's Boogie for Books and Spin for Kids). • Make a gift of stock. • Become a member of the 1924 Society, United Way's planned giving program. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES In the past year, United Way mobilized more than 5,000 volunteers to improve the lives of children and families in our community. You can: • Provide one-on-one budget coaching to help individuals set financial goals, track expenses, develop a budget and save for the future. • Prepare taxes for lower- to moderate-wage earning families to ensure they receive the refunds and credits they've earned. • Provide one-on-one assistance to students in kindergarten through third grade through United Way Readers to improve their literacy skills. • Serve as an academic mentor to two middle school students as a United Way Student Success Coach. • Build literacy kits to help children build their home libraries.
