www.HartfordBusiness.com • November 7, 2017 • GIVING GUIDE • Hartford Business Journal 5 Welcome to the Eighth Annual Giving Guide: Business Gives Back T he Giving Guide is at the heart of what we, at the Hartford Business Journal, believe is our greatest opportunity of community service. Shining the light on the good work of the many nonprofit and charitable organizations that work so tirelessly throughout the year to provide for, and to serve, our community with compassion, and with pragmatism. Connecting businesses with organizations that are aligned with what they care about, as well as what their customers and employees care about is our way of giving back. The Giving Guide is a resource tool. Each nonprofit profile provides a crisp snapshot of the organization's mission, goals, area of service, giving and volunteer opportunities and board leadership. You'll find out about upcoming events and read about the companies that are sponsoring them. Presented in an editorial format and within the context of the nonprofit community at large, the guide delivers directly to the business marketplace. More than ever, the increased demand on the nonprofit sector to provide services and pick up the pieces that government can't, is challenging. Nonprofits cannot do it alone. We are all important pieces of the puzzle. All of us at the Hartford Business Journal are proud to be a part of such a caring and generous business community that gives back every day. Whether making a grant, or a financial contribution, attending a charity benefit (love those golf tournaments), volunteering, sponsoring a little league team or serving a hot meal at a soup kitchen, businesses large and small are coming together for the greater good. So on behalf of our Founding sponsors, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving and the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, our nonprofit partners and their supporters, and the hundreds of organizations listed in the directory, thank you and happy holidays. AMAZING things happen when people connect.
