From families who have lived here for generations to recent arrivals from Russia and Israel, Jewish Greater Hartford has it all — and Federation is at its center. Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford is the only organization in this region that touches every aspect of Jewish life. We serve nearly 27,000 Jewish households in 37 towns across Greater Hartford. While Federation is best known for its annual fundraising campaign — which supports more than 20 Federation initiatives, as well as 30 partner agencies and programs — it is also at the forefront of Jewish action around the world. The Federation network is among the first to respond to war, acts of terrorism and natural disasters, providing humanitarian and educational support in the U.S., in Israel and across the globe. Locally, Federation supports literacy programs for at-risk elementary school children, helps parents send their children to Jewish camps, and helps young adults make their first trip to Israel. We provide opportunities for social action and train the next generation of leaders and teachers who will shape tomorrow's Jewish community. We invite you to join us! GIVING OPPORTUNITIES Federation's Annual Campaign kicks off each fall to raise resources for Federation's community initiatives, our partner agencies and programs, and the Jewish community in Israel and 60 other countries. We offer socializing and networking opportunities through Men's and Women's Philanthropy, our Young Adult Division, the Jewish Professionals Network and other groups. Federation provides opportunities for advocacy and social action through the Jewish Community Relations Council and supports personalized leadership development programs through the new Greater Hartford Jewish Leadership Academy. Many of our programs involve corporate sponsorship opportunities. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES Federation holds more than 100 events each year, both fundraising and non-solicitation. Most are open to the public. Visions: Our largest annual men's fundraising event draws 300 men who contribute at least $365 annually. Our guest speaker this year is UConn Athletics Director David Benedict. Voices: Our largest annual women's fundraising event draws 400 women who contribute at least $365 annually. Our guest speaker this year is Lieutenant Commander Alexa Forsyth Jenkins, the first Jewish woman to command a U.S. Naval warship. Greater Hartford Jewish Leadership Academy: This new initiative, supported by Federation with funding from the Jewish Community Foundation and other sources, provides individualized leadership development based on Jewish values to prepare our community to adapt and respond to an ever-changing environment. It draws on local and national best practices and engages top experts in the field. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Everyone is welcome at Federation. Whether you'd like to read to at-risk children, grow a garden for the hungry, develop your leadership skills or make new connections in the Jewish community, we are here to help you.
