The grant will help Habitat respond to the demand for its core programming and will also allow Habitat to develop its new Financial Freedom Center, based in Hartford's north end. United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut recently announced $200,000 in awards for programs and partnerships that will benefit middle grade students in East Hartford, and lower-income families throughout the region. The Channel 3 Kids Camp celebrated the 20th anniversary of its golf tournament by raising more than $105,000 to support overnight and day camp programs for Connecticut boys and girls. The event at Mohegan Sun Golf Club in Baltic included on-course contests, raffles, and a live auction hosted by WFSB Channel 3 meteorologist Scot Haney. Volunteers from The Hartford recently joined staff from Hartford nonprofit KNOX at the Broad Street trail entrance to Bushnell Park to plant native, drought- resistant trees. The volunteer event was made possible by a $5,000 Keep America Beautiful/ Lowe's Community Partners grant.
