An attorney who worked for a bou- tique law firm in Andover before enter- ing the human resources field and healthcare industry in 2002, Lebow has adopted the approach of a former man- ager at Fallon Clinic, now Reliant Medical Group, where Lebow started out as an employee relations specialist. "She has this confidence, and she would support you and you'd get it done; and the next thing you knew, you knew how to recruit," said Lebow. Making Fallon employees better Lebow joined Fallon in 2008 as direc- tor of employee relations and staffing, and in 2012 was promoted to human resources business partner. In 2015, she was named Fallon chief human resources officer and senior vice president. Now, she is intent on giving other women the same opportunities to grow at work. She encourages the people she man- ages to choose roles fitting their career objectives, balanced with goals for their personal lives. With a focus on promoting internal candidates, Lebow said her employees have advanced from interns to manag- ers under her direction. "Growth and development of our employees is very exciting," Lebow said. "I get a lot of satisfaction and take great pride in it." Striking a work-life balance Lebow, who encourages workplace flexibility whenever possible, said prac- tical reasons led her to trade her job at an employment law firm for a career in the human resources field. A longtime Worcester resident and now the mother of a daughter in the fourth grade, Lebow was looking for a job closer to home and one that didn't require Saturdays at the office, since motherhood was on her to-do list. But she also felt drawn to a career that allowed her to see outcomes, and not just advise human resources man- agers on legal issues. "I was intrigued by the profession from the start, because it was a way to have more employee interaction while using my degree," said Lebow. Commanding respect in the community Outside the office, Lebow lends her legal and human resources expertise in two volunteer roles she holds dear. She consults with the Boys and Girls Club of Worcester, and is on the advi- sory board for Bottom Line, a non- profit with a Worcester office focused on getting low-income students through college. In volunteering and at work, Lebow commands respect, said Kristine Bostek, a former Fallon colleague who is now president and CEO of You Inc., a Worcester behavioral health and educa- tion nonprofit. Bostek said she admires Lebow for ability to identify talent, and for finding a balance between her career and personal life. "Even in situations of challenge or crisis, she's that person who brings a level of objectivity," Bostek said. "Growth and development of our employees is very exciting. Maya Angelou, author, civil rights activist and feminist. Maya said, "Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it, possibly without claiming it, she stands up for all women." How can women succeed in the business world? Hard work and how you treat people is paramount, regardless of gender. What is your primary motivation? To be part of a community of people, be they friends, family and professional colleagues, who are caring, compassionate and respectful.
