C H A R I T A B L E W O R K S Universal Window and Door in Marlborough provided hundreds of historically accurate replica windows for Yarn Works in Fitchburg, the former mill transformed into a 96-unit, mixed-income housing complex and opened this fall. The company was founded in 1968; its president and CEO is Tony Muraco. Avidia Bank, based in Hudson, donated $1,000 to Westborough Education Technology Fund. The money will benefit a WETF campaign for the town's first required robotics course for 7th graders at Gibbons Middle School. Central One Federal Credit Union donated $20,000 to Shrewsbury High School, to help fund the athletic department this school year. This is the fifth year Central One has funded the athletic program. Worcester Credit Union is collaborating with the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center to provide financial literacy training to the center's staff and eventually to patients. The credit union's management team visited the health center to learn more about its role in the community. Worcester-based UniBank committed to sponsor a digital sign for St. Peter Marian Junior-Senior High School in Worcester. The sign will allow the school to share news on activities, partnerships and events. Ayer's Main Street Bank provided free Union Coffee Roaster coffee to MBTA commuters, part of the bank's We Love Our Community Campaign, where it randomly patronizes local businesses and gives away their goods or services.
