Stankus have joined Hinckley Allen's Hartford law office as associates. Humble joins the law firm's corporate and business practice. She was most recently an associate at Halloran & Sage LLP. Rojas is a real estate associate. In addition to the firm's real estate practice group, she will focus on all aspects of commercial real estate law. Rojas was the editor-in-chief of the Connecticut Insurance Law Journal and participated in mediation and transactional clinics. In addition to her time as a summer associate with Hinckley Allen, she previously worked as a legal intern for the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities. Stankus joins the firm's litigation practice group. Most recently, Stankus was a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Julie A. Manning, chief bankruptcy judge at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Connecticut. Jonathan Roberts has joined Webster Bank's community banking team as executive vice president for consumer deposits and retail network management. He will be responsible for growing Webster's consumer deposits business and managing its banking centers and customer care center. Roberts, who has 23 years of experience in retail banking sales, service and operations, joins Webster from First Bank in St. Louis, where he was executive vice president of retail and business banking. Liz LaFond has been promoted to service manager of Hoffman Ford Lincoln. LaFond started her career as a service consultant at Hoffman Ford Lincoln and then Hoffman Audi East Hartford before moving to Hoffman BMW of Watertown and being promoted to assistant manager. Timothy Hodges and Lisa Tepper Bates have been appointed by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy to the board of directors of the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, a quasi-public agency that provides financing for affordable housing. Hodges is a vice president of government relations and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) investment officer at People's United Bank. Hodges previously served as CEO of the YMCA of Stamford. Tepper Bates is executive director of the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness (CCEH), and served as a U.S. diplomat from 1992 to 2006 in posts that included special assistant to the undersecretary of state and as a director at the White House National Security Council. Sabra Purtill was appointed treasurer at The Hartford, expanding her role to oversee the corporate treasury group, including the company's relationship with banks and rating agencies, in addition to her current role as head of investor relations. Purtill succeeds Robert Paiano, who was recently named chief risk officer, as treasurer. Purtill continues to report to The Hartford's Chief Financial Officer Beth Bombara. Purtill has been senior vice president and head of investor relations for The Hartford since 2011 and her career in financial services includes banking and rating-agency experience. Before coming to The Hartford, she was managing director of investor relations and communications at Assured Guaranty Ltd. Scott Bates has been re-elected chairman of the board of directors of the Connecticut Port Authority, a quasi-public agency responsible for marketing and coordinating the development of the state's ports and maritime economy. Julie Loughran has been appointed president and CEO of the Connecticut Community Foundation, effective Nov. 15. Loughran has served as the foundation's director of development and communications since 2014 and will replace Paula Van Ness, who plans to retire in December. Loughran joined the foundation in 2014 to lead its fund development and communications efforts. She has also worked as a nonprofit and campaign communications strategist, and lawyer. Dr. Steven C. Thornquist has been sworn in as the 179th president of the Connecticut State Medical Society. A board-certified ophthalmologist practicing pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at The Eye Care Group in Waterbury, Thornquist is also a clinical Instructor at the Yale University School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science. Stankus Sabra Purtill Community Trinity hosts discussion on free expression on campus Civil rights scholar Frederick M. Lawrence and Philadelphia Inquirer editor and Trinity College alum William K. Marimow visited Trinity College recently for a discussion on "The Contours of Free Expression on Campus." The conversation was part of Trinity's Bridging Divides initiative, an effort to bring the Trinity community together and promote understanding across differences. Northstar Wealth Partners volunteers with Habitat for Humanity Northstar Wealth Partners employees recently volunteered to assist Habitat for Humanity in completing a new home for a family in Mystic. Hartford Yard Goats President Tim Restall has been named the 2017 Eastern League Executive of the Year. Middletown-based environmental engineering firm Wright-Pierce has been recognized by Engineering News Record as one of the "Top 200" Environmental Firms in the country. New Country Motor Cars sponors CRIS Radio's Annual Golf Classic CRIS Radio's 20th Annual Golf Classic, sponsored by New Country Motor Cars of Hartford, was attended by over 100 golfers at Tunxis Golf Plantation in Farmington. Funds raised by the event will go to the Windsor- based nonprofit radio service for the blind.
