The 35-year-old organization serves more than 150,000 meals per year to food insecure residents of Willimantic and surrounding towns. Robinson+Cole Lawyer Leads Student School-Supply Drive Robinson+Cole lawyer Alaine C. Doolan led the effort to donate 35 backpacks filled with school supplies to the Truancy Intervention Project of Connecticut and Interval House, as part of the B.E.E. The Best program. Doolan founded the program in 2011 to encourage excellence in education by alleviating poor school attendance as a result of not having supplies. Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters receives $10,000 donation Andy Fleischmann, president and CEO of Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters, recently accepted a $10,000 donation from the Bob's Discount Furniture Charitable Foundation. The donation will be used to transition children in need off Nutmeg's statewide waiting list and into productive mentoring relationships with caring, inspirational adult volunteers. OF NOTE MetroHartford Alliance, Web- ster Bank official recognized The MetroHartford Alliance was awarded the Gold Award at the 2017 International Economic Development Council's annual awards for its weekly radio program, "Pulse of the Region." The award honors economic development initiatives that recognize innovation in economic development through the deployment of new media formats. Webster Bank's James Higgins, vice president and manager of its banking center in Waterbury, received the 2017 Volunteer of the Year Award at the 23rd annual Malcolm Baldrige Awards dinner. Higgins is the current secretary of the chamber's Young Professionals Organization. CT Convention Bureau awards The Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau recently honored eight residents and business executives at its Hospitality Industry Night. CTCSB Bring it Home Awards were awarded to: Matt Fleury, Jason Guyot, Luis Lopez, Raymond Pineault, Elaine Sangiovanni, and Trish Wang.
