16 Giving Guide 2017 Worcester Business Journal www.wbjournal.com Be Like Brit Foundation, Inc. Future Goals It is the top priority of Be Like Brit to financially sustain the organization in order to fulfill our vision to raise the next generation of leaders in Haiti. Complete the Britsionary House on the grounds of BLB in Haiti in order to welcome more volunteers to Grand Goâve. This will allow us to build more homes for our neighbors in Haiti, therefore empowering our community members. Expand the BLB Clubs Program to more local schools. School groups have begun BLB Clubs to raise awareness and funds to support the mission of Be Like Brit. Create monthly medical clinics and a feeding program to serve the community of Grand Goâve where access to medical care is extremely limited and the ability to afford food is tremendously difficult. Achieve self-sustainability. We have installed solar panels to provide electricity and power, have grown our own garden of fruits and vegetables and are working toward installation of an irrigation system and water cistern to water our crops and provide even more clean water for our children, staff and neighbors. Fundraising Events/Opportunities Annual Fall Gala – November 4, 2017 The Annual Fall Gala will take place at the DCU Center and includes a silent auction, cocktails, dinner and dancing. This event offers the opportunity for the community to come together to learn about Be Like Brit and support the mission at the same time. Annual Bowling Event – April 6, 2018 Our Annual Bowling Event will take place at AMF Town and Country Lanes in Shrewsbury, MA and allows participants to put together a team or bowl individually for up to three hours. Annual Golf Tournament – June 2018 The Annual Golf Tournament will take place at Cyprian Keyes in Boylston and offers golfers a day of golfing, lunch, dinner and amazing silent auction prizes. Annual 5k Walk – September 2018 The Annual 5k Walk will take place at Elm Park in Worcester and offers attendees the opportunity to come together to support Brit's Home in Haiti. You can learn more about attending and/or sponsoring any of these events at BeLikeBrit.org/events Volunteer Opportunities We have several opportunities for volunteers who want to help support Be Like Brit. Become a Britsionary! Our Britsionary Program was designed to allow volunteers (think missionaries) to dedicate up to a week of their time and travel to Haiti. They build a home for a family in need who are still living in temporary shelters. Britsionarys also spend time with Brit's 66 children and learn about the culture of Haiti. Contact Melissa@BeLikeBrit.org for more information. Volunteer at the Operations Center ("OC") located in Worcester. The "OC" is where we 'house' the donations that are given to us for Brit's Home as well as where our administrative offices reside. Our volunteer opportunities are ever changing, whether it is organizing materials in the warehouse, packing hockey bags for the next Britsionary trip, preparing for an upcoming event or sending out a large mailing, we are always in need of extra sets of hands. We have opportunities for all ages! If this is something you may be interested in, please contact Kate, our volunteer coordinator at Kate@BeLikeBrit.org Giving Opportunities Be Like Brit's generous donors are essential to our ability to fulfill our mission! -Make an unrestricted gift toward our Annual Fund which helps with the costs associated with raising 66 children in Haiti, providing housing and clean water to our neighbors in Haiti and continuing to grow our Britsionary (missionary) Program by building on-site housing for our hundreds of visiting volunteers. -Attend or Sponsor one of our Annual Events. -Sponsor one of our children.
