Quest and HHC completed the acquisition following approval from the state Office of Health Care Access. The deal builds on a long-standing relationship between Quest and HHC. In 2016, Quest acquired the outreach laboratory service business of Clinical Laboratory Partners, which was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hartford HealthCare at the time. CT Water CEO leaves for Calif. job Clinton-based Connecticut Water Service CEO Eric W. Thornburg has resigned to take a new job with a large water system in California, and an interim leader has replaced him, effective immediately, the utility said. Eric W. Thornburg stepped down as chairman, president and CEO Sept. 28 to became the head of SJW Group of San Jose, Calif. SJW Group is a publicly traded holding company and the parent of San Jose Water Company Inc., Texas Water Alliance Limited, and SJW Land Company, which provide water services to more than 1 million people in San Jose and in Canyon Lake, Texas and their nearby communities. David C. Benoit, Connecticut Water's senior vice president and CFO, is stepping up as interim president and CEO. Richard Knowlton remains president of Maine operations, the board said. Carol P. Wallace, who has served on the Connecticut utility board since 2003, has been elected to serve as board chair. Under Thornburg, the utility grew more than 45 percent since 2012, including two acquisitions completed this year, Wallace said. The utility purchased the Avon Water Co. in July and the Heritage Village Water Co. in Southbury in February. Hartford InsurTech hub snags $1M partner A London-based insurance technology fund is providing up to $1 million in capital as part of a new partnership with Hartford's recently formed InsurTech hub. Last month, CTNext and three Connecticut insurers joined forces with Startupbootcamp to launch Hartford's accelerator for insurance technology. Eos Venture Partners (Eos) will make up to $1 million available to participants in the Hartford program. The mission for the insurtech hub is to drive innovation in insurance across the globe. Newington manufacturer wins $136.2M in Apache helicopter contracts Newington aeroparts maker PCX Aerostructures LLC has received $136.2 million in military contracts for the production and overhaul and repair of Boeing AH-64 Apache helicopter components. As a major supplier to the Apache helicopter program for more than 30 years, PCX will manufacture new main rotorheads for the U.S. Army as part of a $72.3 million contract. The company has also secured a U.S. Army contract for Apache main rotorhead overhaul and repair services valued at $63.9 million. PCX CEO Jeff Frisby said being awarded both contracts "is testament to our ability to be a total solution provider to our customers." PCX Aerostructures is owned by RFE Investment Partners of New Canaan, 24/6 Capital Partners, and PCX management. The company has facilities in Newington; Mansfield, Texas; and Ronkonkoma, N.Y. Kaman sells out K-MAX helicopters with new order Kaman Aerosystems, a division of Bloomfield aerospace manufacturer Kaman Corp., has sold out its initial production of 10 K-MAX helicopters. The latest order for the K-MAX came from Oregon's Columbia Basin Helicopters at the Helitech International Helicopter Expo & Conference in London, said Drake Klotzman, general manager of Kaman's air vehicles, maintenance, repair and overhaul division. Terms of the sale were not disclosed. Columbia Basin Helicopters Inc. of La Grande, Oregon has been operating for more than 20 years. Primary operations include aerial application and firefighting. The K-MAX will be delivered to Columbia Basin in 2018, Klotzman said. Recent demand for the K-MAX helicopters has fueled the aircraft's journey back into production. In May, Kaman announced the first successful flight of its relaunched bird, which is used by loggers, construction contractors, farmers, even the U.S. Marines.
