These foot switches are used in things like medical machinery or for industrial applications. Linemaster produces over a million foot controls each year in its 45,000-square-foot plant in Woodstock. Borders C O M PA N Y P R O F I L E Linemaster produces foot switches for the medical and industrial industries supporting thousands of different applications, ranging from metal working machines to medical electro-surgical generators. The foot switch provides the end user an accessory that allows them to operate the equipment while having their hands free to do other tasks. Linemaster mainly sells B to B — business to business — providing custom-made foot controls as accessories to other companies' products. These companies can be in the medical field or industrial market, OEMs — Original Equipment Manufacturers — who then sell their product under their own branding, with Linemaster foot controls. Linemaster also sells to consumers and distributors. Linemaster Switch Corp. operates from two locations, where it has departments for planning, production assembly, marketing, materials, sales, customer service, packing, assembly, engineering, quality control, accounting, paint and drilling. Assemblers are generally hired for the production floor as order volume grows; the other positions are occupied by long-term employees. The internship program puts students in the field and exposes them to real-life experiences. Many Linemaster interns get full-time jobs once they graduate from their institution.
