EAMA works with its education and training partners to promote and improve manufacturing careers and the regional manufacturing workforce. EAMA creates a platform for member companies to speak with one voice to advance the region's manufacturing agenda. Increase awareness of manufacturing and manufacturing careers in the Eastern Connecticut region, and increase the number of individuals in the region who pursue jobs and careers in advanced manufacturing. 2. Improve manufacturing education at the secondary and post- secondary levels. 3. Advocate for policies and resources that are advantageous to the advanced manufacturing industry, and to education and training programs that support the industry. 4. Share best practices in manufacturing workforce development among EAMA members and other employers EAMA works with Quinebaug Valley Community College (QVCC) and Three Rivers Community College (TRCC) to review existing and proposed course content and equipment needs to ensure that the colleges' programs continually address the evolving needs of manufacturing employers and produce highly skilled workers ready to enter the workforce. EAMA is also the industry partner for the following programs: Early college opportunity programs with New London STEM Magnet School and Windham High School Three Rivers Community College – Precision sheet-metal fabrication and mechanical engineering Quinebaug Valley Community College – Machining, supply-chain management and mechatronics Department of Labor – Apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship program sponsors and related instruction with TRCC and QVCC Annual Video Challenge — High school students produce a three- minute video based on a theme, such as: "What's So Cool about MFG?", "Manufacturing Your Future" and a "Day in the Life" Eastern Workforce Investment Board pipeline training E D U C AT I O N A L O U T R E A C H S T R AT E G I C P R I O R I T I E S M I S S I O N S TAT E M E N T EAMA Also Sponsors: Quarterly seminars related to manufacturing, as well as round-table talks, discussions and other events. Manufacturing events hosted by QVCC and TRCC that showcase manufacturing careers for hundreds of local middle-schoolers. Tours of EAMA-member companies, for youth and adults to see modern advanced- manufacturing workplaces. Internship opportunities to expose students to manufacturing careers and to connect member companies with future workers.
