FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES is is an exciting year for Volunteers of America! Camp POSTCARD cel- ebrates its 25th anniversary. Since 1994, over 3,500 kids have enjoyed a free sum- mer camp adventure with caring Law Enforcement volunteers. is program is totally supported through private donations – help send a Maine girl or boy to camp for $400 or donate to our sustainability fund to ensure future kids can attend. e Cabin in the Woods veteran housing program will give homeless veterans and their families a permanent place to live in a rural setting on the grounds of TOGUS, while getting the services that they need to help rebuild their lives. Donations help these families with living needs and services. Buy a personalized brick or bench for the veteran garden. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES Camp POSTCARD – Each year we raise funds to send over 150 kids in need from all across Maine to camp. e volunteer leaders are law enforce- ment officers. Visit our website and click on the Camp POSTCARD video (www.voanne.org/camp-postcard) to learn more. It changes the lives of the kids and officers who attend. Sponsor a child for $400 or help to collect the in-kind items needed – backpacks, pillows, shoes, etc. for children who arrive at camp without the proper camping equipment. Cabin in the Woods for Homeless Veterans – 21 cabins and a commu- nity center on the grounds of Togus for homeless veterans and their families. Opportunities to get involved include buying a personalized brick or bench for the patio or sponsoring a cabin. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES f Our senior houses are always interested in entertaining and informative guests. Performers, teachers or workshop presenters will be greeted with a welcoming and appreciative audience. Groups that can come in and cook a community meal are always a welcome treat! f Our annual week-long Camp POSTCARD recruits many volunteers to work in the kitchen, register campers and help out with other tasks. f Hundreds of volunteers provide support to our Veterans' Services programs. f Many of our properties have lovely grounds and gardens, thanks to corporate and individual volunteers. f For teens, Action Teams in four Maine high schools help teens complete their community service hours for graduation, while bringing joy to our residents. f For more information, visit our website at www.voanne.org/volunteer.
