MISSION STATEMENT Spurwink provides behavioral health and education services for children, adults and families. Our vision of success is children, adults and families affected by behavioral health challenges and developmental disabilities living healthy, engaged lives in their communities. SERVICE LOCATION(S) Spurwink serves the entire state of Maine, with physical locations in nine counties. Spurwink Services 2018 GOALS f Increase mission impact by expanding the reach and concentration of pro- grams and services to improve agency sustainability. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES f e 31st annual Spurwink Humanitarian Awards will be on Oct. 12, 2017, at ompson's Point in Portland. e Humanitarian celebrates community leaders who embody Spurwink's mission: going the distance for youth in transition. In 2017 we will honor Lamey Wellehan Shoes and Mary Allen Lindemann & Alan Spear, Co-founders, Coffee by Design. is year's gala is "Youth in Transition: Taking Flight," highlighting the work Spurwink does in our pre-vocational programs as well as therapeutic services for young adults aging out of Spurwink. Guests stuff backpacks with care items for children in Spurwink's foster care, child abuse and residential programs as well as uninsured and new refugee families. ey also enjoy beer and food from local Portland restaurants. Individual tickets are available and we welcome in-kind donations of books, school supplies and toys for the backpacks. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES Spurwink could not serve 7,500 clients per year without generous support from businesses, individuals and foundations. Companies throughout Maine support Spurwink's clients through our Corporate Partners Program, event sponsor- ship, gifts of products or services and corporate volunteers. For individuals and families who want to invest in the future of Maine's chil- dren, Spurwink offers an annual giving program. Many donors choose to give at the end of the calendar year for income tax purposes. Donors are recognized in Spurwink's Annual Report and on our website. Corporations and foundations are recognized on Spurwink's active social media platforms and at events, as appropriate. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Spurwink welcomes community members, including corporations, who are looking for service opportunities, to engage in a meaningful way with the youth, adults and families we serve. We offer many volunteer experiences through- out Maine within Spurwink schools, residential facilities and offices. Options include painting, gardening, cooking classes, sports days and the collection of care items. Spurwink is happy to design a program based upon your specific interests, as well as provide tours of selected facilities.
