SERVICE LOCATION(S) Although the majority of the children, youth and families served are from Kennebec and Somerset Counties, Adoption Services, Summer Camp Scholarships and the Christmas Program are offered across the State of Maine. Our primary campus is in Waterville with a satellite Adoption Office in Portland. The Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers 2018 GOALS e Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers is a thriving nonprofi t with more than 118 years of experience providing essential services and care for children, youth and families across the state of Maine. We are continuing to make enhancements to our Dorothy 'Bibby' Alfond Campus in Waterville for long-term development. We are increasing the marketing & branding of our Adoption Services; evolving meth- ods to share our Parenting Education tools and supports across the state; expanding awareness and support for children that have been impacted by ACES – Adverse Childhood Experiences through our Counseling Program; and adding three new classrooms at e Children's Place Early Care and Education Center. We are expanding supports that "build and strengthen families and their children, instilling hope for the future and a better quality of life." f Adoption Services f Outpatient Counseling f Sharon Abrams Teen Parent School Program f e Children's Place Early Care and Education Center f Summer Camp Scholarship Program f Christmas Program FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES e MCHLW fundraising includes: concerts, the Friends of The Maine Children's Home Yard Sale and Lobster Roll Bag Lunches, gift drives with local schools, busi- nesses and supporters. e board hosts three major fundraising events annually: f The Annual Celebration is held in January with a dinner, silent auction and the Annual Fund kick off . f More than 200 people participate in the Annual Wine Tasting in April with heavy hors d'oeuvres, wine sampling and a silent auction. f A Dinner & Dance will be held in October to benefi t the Sharon Abrams Teen Parent School Program. Over 200 people will join us for the dinner, dancing and a silent auction. Corporate support is essential to our annual fundraising. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES f Our established development program welcomes gift planning opportunities, donations of stock, art, and other charitable gifts. f Corporate sponsorships of MCHLW events are available, which off ers broad exposure with advertising and promo- tions on our website, event materials and in electronic and print newsletters. f Direct-mail appeals are sent in January for the Annual Fund (supporting more than 3,200 children, youth and families in 2017), in April for Summer Camp Scholarships (110 youth were sent to camp in 2017) and a Red Stocking Appeal in October, which helps all the MCHLW Programs, and ensures that we can meet the Christmas Program needs of more than 1,750 children this year. f In-kind donations of new books, games, clothing or toys are needed to meet all the needs of the Christmas Boxes for youth all across Maine. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES We welcome over 300 volunteers annually from local schools, colleges, civic clubs and businesses to complete activities and projects for our Waterville Campus. f Join the Friends of The Maine Children's Home to provide support for e Maine Children's Home. e Friends are goodwill ambassadors that help promote and carry out fund- raising activities as well as provide resources to help grow and maintain MCHLW's six core programs. f Assisting our Christmas Program by sorting and packing more than 1,700 children's gift boxes each year. f Read to the 53 children at Our Children's Place Early Care and Education Center. f Serve on the board or other plan- ning and development committees.
