Carrier donates air conditioners to Hartford homeowners Carrier, part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies, has donated more than 500 air conditioning and heating systems to Habitat for Humanity to be installed in homes throughout the country including Hartford. Carrier has teamed up with pro football legend and longtime Habitat supporter, Warrick Dunn, in Atlanta to celebrate the donation. Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters hosts annual golf tournament Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters recently held its Annual Golf Classic. The event drew over 200 golfers and raised over $182,000. The fundraiser's objective was to move as many children as possible off Nutmeg's waiting list and into life-changing match relationships with inspirational adult volunteers. Of Note People's United Bank Earns Social Responsibility Award People's United Bank has been recognized by the Financial Services Roundtable with the Corporate Social Responsibility Leadership award for its community involvement efforts. The award was given out by Connecticut U.S. Rep. Jim Himes. Nutmeg Credit Union donates backpacks to students Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union has donated 300 backpacks, filled with school supplies, to students in need throughout the Greater Hartford area. Backpacks were donated to the respective Backpack Drives for Enfield's Educational Resources for Children as well as Hartford's Catholic Charities.
