Southport Boats acquired by principals of Carbon Craft Southport Boats, an Augusta builder of center-console boats, has been acquired by the principals of Florida-based Carbon Craft Inc. for an undisclosed price. A new holding company, Tuxedo Yachts, has been formed to acquire luxury oriented boat businesses and will initially consist of the Carbon Craft and Southport Boat brands. George Menezes, vice president and general manager for Southport Boats, said the new owners bring capital for product development and expanded production capacity in a new 70,000-square-foot production facility – more than four times larger than Southport's current site. e boat builder plans to add as many as 15 employees to its workforce of 35 by the end of the year, Menezes said, and as many as 20 to 30 next year. Cross-border tourism project planned for Bay of Fundy e Maine Offi ce of Tourism and other Maine stakeholders are taking part in an Atlantic Growth Strategy pilot project for tourism development across the Maine-Canada border. e Quoddy Tides reported the initiative focuses on developing a cohesive Bay of Fundy eco- nomic development and tourism strat- egy. "Creating an integrated world-class Fundy Coast experience will create jobs and grow the economy in the Atlantic region," Karen Ludwig, a Parliament member representing southwest New Brunswick, said at a recent meeting on Campobello Island to discuss the proj- ect. Many U.S. visitors are introduced to Canada at Roosevelt Campobello International Park, Ludwig said. Isle au Haut looks to solar for energy Isle au Haut is planning a move to solar energy that could provide the island's electrical needs.
