The city of Portland was awarded a certifi - cate of achievement for excellence in fi - nancial reporting by the Government Fi- nance Offi cers Association of the United States and Canada for its June 30, 2016 comprehensive annual fi nancial report. WalletHub, a national fi nance website, ranks the city of Bangor as "Top Maine Small City to Start a Business" in a 2017 analysis comparing the business climate of over 1,200 small cities. Using 16 key metrics including average growth in number of small businesses, real estate and labor costs, number of startups per capita and access to capital, the city ranked ahead of other Maine cities with a total score of 40.6 and ranking of 434 out of 1,261 cities overall. Coastal Enterprises Inc.'s headquarters in Brunswick earned a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum accreditation, the highest level for building energy effi ciency and sus- tainability, and one of just six awarded in Maine for new commercial construction since the standard was created.
