In 2016, he helped create 710 new jobs, retain 1,500 jobs, expand 540,000 square feet of leased space and retain 750,000 square feet of commer- cial/industrial space. He helped spear- head Boroughs+ Initiative, a gathering of economic development professionals promoting the 495 region. Torres serves on Corridor 9 Chamber of Commerce and MetroWest Visitors Bureau boards and Affordable Housing Trust Fund, and volunteers for Hispanic Black Gay Coalition. He lives with hus- band, Michael, and rescue dog, Wesley. What will colleagues say at your funeral? I was a people person who thrived on my connections with others and brought a smile to their faces. Growing up in a family of entrepre- neurs, Reardon co-founded Commonwealth in 2010 with Brian Pelczarski, transforming the firm from credit and debit processing to assisting with accounts receivable for clients ranging from entrepreneurs to multina- tionals, opening offices in New York, New Hampshire and Washington, D.C. Reardon serves as co-chair for the Central MA Coalition for Suicide Prevention and is a community adviso- ry board member for Massachusetts Department of Public Health's Suicide Prevention Program. An avid fisher- man, he lives with his wife, Elaine, and son, Tom. How do you define success? Growing our offices to where we have robust teams, first-class offerings, and are great stewards of our communities. If you spoke at a college graduation, what would the message be? Every graduate should work hard now on cre- ating their own ideas. Those on the edge of starting their own business need encouragement. Bajrami Campoverde founded Golden Group in 2011 while still attending WSU, seeing a need for a roofing firm to focus on concierge cus- tomer service – using the hospitality lessons she learned while working at her family's restaurant since age 14. Since its opening, Golden Group has achieved a compound annual growth rate of 92.8 percent, opened offices in Worcester and Westborough and won awards from Angie's List and America's largest asphalt shingle manufacturer. She volunteers on WSU's foundation board and the Massachusetts Council for National Women in Roofing. She enjoys traveling with her husband, Freddy, and children, Chiara and Enzo. Your best advice? When I was at my lowest point, my mother said, "Get up, go do it, fly low under the radar and never let them see you coming." What Central Mass. location every- one should visit? The small town of Nerja in Southern Spain After graduating WPI in 2003, Staruk joined Consigli as project engi- neer and, after two productive years, was promoted to project manager before achieving senior project manag- er status for her leaderships on projects large and small. Exhibiting the highest level of professionalism and exceeding expectations on projects within budget and on time, Staruk this year received Consigli's highest honor – Builder of the Year – out of 300 eligible employ- ees. She is its first woman recipient. Staruk participates in events like American Heart Association Heart Walk and running 5Ks to support fire departments. She lives with husband, Dan, and children, Madilyn and Molly. What person do you look up to? Lisa Thompson of Sturbridge Growth Partners conquered the business world on her own terms. Favorite piece of Central Mass. his- tory? Having built a career at a 112-year-old Milford company, head- quartered in an historic building, I'm liv- ing my favorite piece of local history.
