He's way too excited about what Excel, SQL, and web development can do for any business. He spent five years democra- tizing and evangelizing data, integrat- ing it into a single, unified customer relationship management platform. He serves on MWCC's business advisory board and volunteers at Community Healthlink and SHINE Initiative. He's inspired by his wife Alma, the greatest English teacher ever, and his daughter Audrey, who aspires to be a fish. His dad (also Jim) taught him how to build things, and his mom Lynda taught him to appreciate old movies. How do you define success? Looking forward to going to work and looking forward to going home. What will people say at your funeral? He should have hired an electrician. What movie actor would play you? Tom Hanks. I live a mashup of "The 'Burbs" and "The Money Pit." Viens completed a judicial clerkship with Massachusetts Superior Court before entering private practice, relocat- ing to Worcester County in 2010 to join Bowditch. He was named partner in 2015 and been recognized as a Rising Star by Massachusetts Super Lawyers and named a Super Lawyer for Business Litigation in 2017. Viens practices in business/commercial areas, counselling businesses, nonprofits and individuals. He serves on the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester board and is a member of the Worcester Young Businessmen's Association. He enjoys time with his wife and four kids, especially at hockey rinks watching the kids compete. What would a movie made about your be called? "The Counsellor" -- My job is to be a trusted advisor, guiding clients in difficult and challenging issues. The one Central Mass. location should everyone visit? Davis Farmland Where is your ideal vacation spot? Florida. It's where I was married, has beautiful beaches and is home to my kids' favorite place – Disney. Murphy's interest in business first came working after school for his father's fire truck repair firm. Murphy obtained his real estate license at 19, and then acquired weRENTboston in 2005. He started weRENTcentralmass in 2008 – becoming the market leader in rentals – and then acquired the city's largest apartment rental agency, Guardian Select. Murphy then launched 7 Hill Property Management to provide servic- es beyond leasing. In 2012 co-funded Stage One Investors to buy delinquent real estate tax and convert it into reve- nue for municipalities. That same year, he founded Baystate Investment Fund to buy and redevelop real estate. If you spoke at a college graduation, what would the message be? I have failed miserably, so many times. Once you understand you can't move forward looking in the rear-view mirror, be pre- pared for your greatest successes. Why work in Central Mass.? Boston real estate is for institutional investors. Central Mass. provides an opportunity for me in a growing market. Vallejos came to the U.S. 13 years ago after graduating from medical school to pursue the American dream, despite English being his second language. He landed in the contract manufacturing field at Columbia, starting as coordina- tor and, after four promotions, into his VP role, working with customers to seize market opportunities by utilizing the company's scaled product launch process, which Vallejos helped develop. When Vallejos and wife Osiris and sons Alexis, Jr. and Gabriel travel to Nicaragua, they schedule a donation to a poor area, knowing how far a small donation has on the community. What person do you look up to? Chris Coghlin, CEO of Columbia Tech. He is very positive, energetic, has a great passion for success and always takes the time to mentor and thank his team. If you spoke a college graduation, what would the message be? It's ok if they don't land their dream job from the beginning, as multiple paths can make you a better, stronger, confident and more knowledgeable leader.
