Rathbun has been appointed senior director of development for the Schools of Business and Engineering at Quinnipiac University. Rathbun comes to Quinnipiac with extensive de- velopment experience, most recently as assistant vice president for development at Vassar College, where he was responsible for giving and athletic fundraising. He also has been active in the Coun- cil for Advancement and Support of Education and MaGiC, a major gifts conference. Laticrete promotes financial executive to senior VP Bethany manufacturer Laticrete has promoted Janet Brunwin to senior vice president of finance. Brunwin will oversee financial reporting, compliance, treasury, tax, risk management and information tech- nology for the family owned global enterprise. Brunwin joined Laticrete in 2002 as controller and was promoted several times until becoming vice president of finance in 2014. Upward Hartford appoints community manager, event coordinator Upward Hartford, an innovation hub with office and shared space for entrepreneurs and startups, and a tech incubator, has appointed Nadiya Anderson as community manager and Chris Dudanowicz as event coordinator. Anderson's responsibilities include attracting new members, providing support and facilitating interaction between members of Upward Hartford, located in the Stilts Building downtown. Anderson previously worked with Bridge2Peace, a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization that builds com- munities in Sri Lanka by providing early childhood education and teacher training. Dudanowicz's responsibilities include organiz- ing creative and inspiring events for Upward Hart- ford's community and the Greater Hartford area. He will work with local partners and companies to host business events and conferences at Upward Hartford. Kaman Distribution appoints vice president, GM of automation Bloomfield-based Kaman Distribution Group, a subsidiary of Kaman Corp., has appointed Jeff Ames as vice president, general manager of its automation platform. Ames brings more than 25 years of experience in engineered products and systems businesses, with roles spanning commercial, technical and op- erational responsibilities. Prior to joining Kaman, he served as GM at Eaton Corp., where he led com- mercial, technical and operations activity in Eaton's notification business. He will be based out of the Kaman Automation facility in Franklin, Mass. Evariant hires chief growth officer Farm ington-based Evariant, a health soft- ware provider, hired Thomas "Tom" Schultz as chief growth officer. Schultz will oversee the company's revenue growth strategy and play a critical role in de- veloping the company's corporate, product and go- to-market strategies. Schultz brings 29 years of healthcare technology experience to Evariant, most recently as senior vice president of sales at HealthStream. Mohegan Sun hires VP of convention sales Mohegan Sun has hired John Washko as vice president of exhibitions and convention sales to oversee the meetings and conventions division at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville and head sales and di- rection for the new 132,000-square-foot Mohegan Sun Expo Center scheduled to open next summer. Washko has held previous executive-level roles with Atlantis in Paradise Island, Bahamas and The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs among his 20-plus years in resort industry sales, marketing, group sales and hospitality. Nutmeg Technologies hires account executive South Windsor-based Nutmeg Technologies, which provides IT services for local businesses, announced that Nicolette Martin has joined the company as a sales associate. Martin will be responsible for build- ing new relationships and business in the state. Martin previously worked for Paychex as an account executive working with small to midsize companies and as an account executive at The Walker Group in Farm- ington, focusing on technology business development. Hassett & George names partner The Simsbury law firm of Hassett & George PC has named attorney Jared M. Alfin as partner. Since joining Hassett & George in 2013, he has helped ex- pand the firm's client base and litigation practice. As a partner, he will continue to counsel clients on issues involving commercial contract disputes, collections, real estate litigation, white-collar fraud, unfair trade practices, condominium law, partnership disputes, and litigation involving shareholders and members. Alfin has been practicing since 2004. Gaffney Bennett Public Relations adds partner New Britain-based Gaffney Bennett Public Rela- tions (GBPR), a public relations and strategic com- munications firm, announced that Patrick McGloin has rejoined the firm as a partner. He was an asso- ciate at the firm for eight years and returns to GBPR from the MetroHartford Alliance, where he was vice president of government relations and public policy. During his 20-year career, McGloin has served as a communications, public policy and public opinion research adviser in politics and government at the state and national levels. Rey, who replaces Bob Rath, started her new position Aug. 15. Rath is retiring after 23 years in the job. Rey is known both locally and nationally for her work in the fields of youth develop- ment, education and civic leadership. Most recently, since 2011, Rey led Hartford's public schools School Choice Office. Prior to that, she served as director of Hartford's Office for Youth Services. She also was vice president at the Village for Families and Children, and program officer at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, where she helped found the first Latino Endowment Fund. Board Chairman Jordan Coe said Rey is the right person to lead the nonprofit. "Enid has a wealth of youth development, edu- cation and nonprof- it experience and a passionate commit- ment to our commu- nity and our youth," she said. The nonprofit helps 14 to 24 year-old urban youth become economically independent adults in central and eastern Connecticut. • • • The Harriet Beecher Stowe Center in Hartford is launching a national search to replace Executive Director Katherine Kane, who will retire next May after more than 19 years in the post. Kane, who has held the position since 1998, helped transform the center from a private foundation to a publicly oriented museum with a diverse audience, many programs, and expanded regional and national partnerships. The tourist attraction honors writer Harriet Beecher Stowe, who wrote the ground-breaking 1852 anti-slavery novel "Uncle Tom's Cabin." Programs developed during Kane's tenure include award-winning Salons at Stowe that bring the public into the parlor for conversations on contemporary issues.
