16 Hartford Business Journal • January 30, 2017 • www.HartfordBusiness.com An Introduction to Trinity Health – New England and People Centered Care Formed in 2015, Trinity Health – New England is an integrated health care delivery system formed by some of the most well-established hospitals in our region. Our Regional Health Ministry is a strategic partnership that includes Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center and Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, both in Hartford; Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford Springs; Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, and Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA. As our new brand campaign says, we are "Together for a Reason" and that reason is to compassionately care for our communities. Trinity Health – New England was initiated by the joining together of five hospitals, but we are so much more than that. In addition to our flagship institutions we also offer a comprehensive continuum of care including medical offices, walk-in clinics, specialized facilities, rehabilitation and home care, serving a population of nearly three million people. We are 13,000 colleagues strong, including nearly 1,500 affiliated physicians and providers. We are also part of Trinity Health, one of the largest multi- institutional Catholic health care systems in the nation. While we are glad to be part of a national company, we also recognize that health care is intensely local, so our community connections will remain an important part of everything we do. Trinity Health – New England is guided by Trinity Health's People- Centered 2020 Strategic Plan. The plan's major focus areas all relate back to PEOPLE: Over the coming months we will take a look at what each of these focus areas means to us—and more importantly—to you. Because everything we do is focused on you, the people and communities we serve. By committing to being People-Centered we pledge to put the people we serve at the center of every decision, action and behavior in our ministry. Of course, we will continue to invest in our facilities and the latest technologies. But our values and priorities will always put people first. Our People-Centered 2020 strategy maintains our focus on delivering better health, better care, and lower costs. These are the things that motivate and drive our colleagues every day. But we also know that in order to do this we must participate in the broader context of our local, regional and national communities. We must advocate for effective legislation and health care policies, and for the fiscal health of our cities and state. We must make innovation a priority, and encourage a business climate that encourages—not inhibits—adoption of new models and systems of care. This is a time of tremendous change and opportunity. By making people the focus of everything we do, we believe that we will not only uphold our rich heritage, but also transform and carry it forward into the future. At Trinity Health – New England, we are just beginning our story.
