Barwis, president and CEO of Bristol Hospital and Health Care Group, as Connecticut's 2017 Grassroots Champion. Barwis was recognized for his exceptional leadership in advocating for hospital priorities such as eliminating the hospital tax and raising Medicaid rates. • • • FUNERAL HOME OWNER HILBORN IS THE 2017 NOAH WEBSTER AWARD RECIPIENT Charlie Hilborn, owner of the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home in West Hartford, is the recipient of the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce's 2017 Noah Webster Award. The Noah Webster Award is given to any one nominated person or business that has exhibited extraordinary commitment to the town of West Hartford and its com- munity. ▶ ▶ The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford recently celebrated its Passport to Manhood program at its Boys To Men fundraiser at Dunkin' Donuts Park. The event, with lead support from Comcast, featured a keynote address by author and baseball analyst Doug Glanville and remarks from Julio "Mickey" Rivera, BGCH Young Man of the Year. KEVIN OLLIE OPENS KEVIN'S KOURT IN SOUTH WINDSOR COMCAST SUPPORTS BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS' PASSPORT TO MANHOOD PROGRAM ▶ ▶ UConn basketball Head Coach Kevin Ollie opened his first inclusive basketball court, Kevin's Kourt, paired with an adjoining barrier-free playground in South Windsor. The opening ceremony was attended by South Windsor Mayor Carolyn Mirek and members of the Ryan Martin Foundation and Hospital for Special Care Junior Wheelchair Basketball program and the South Windsor Unified Sports Program. ACCOLADES & MORE Kurt A. Barwis MIDSTATE MEDICAL CENTER RAISES $50,000 IN ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT ▶ ▶ The MidState Medical Center Auxiliary's 33rd Annual Golf Tournament raised $50,000 for the Ayer Neuroscience Institute at MidState. The Institute treats more patients than any other center in the region, with experts specializing in stroke, neuro-oncology, neuromuscular, neurosurgery and general neurology.
