In June, Bar Harbor vot- ers approved a zoning change that clears the way for the town to buy the former ferry terminal and rede- velop it for passenger cruises. Two rural Maine health centers land $3.9M Katahdin Valley Health Center in Patten will receive $2.74 million and Pines Health Services in Caribou will receive $1.17 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Angus King, I-Maine, stated in a news release that the grant funding is awarded through the Health Resources and Services Administration, an agency within HHS that is tasked with improving access to health care by building healthy communities, strengthening the healthcare work- force, and achieving health equity. HRSA's programs target the economic and medically vulnerable as well as the geographically isolated. e grants are awarded under its Health Center Cluster program. Next generation takes over Bangor real estate fi rm Julie Dawson Williams, who was named "2017 Realtor of the Year" by the Greater Bangor Association of Realtors, is now the principal owner of the Bangor-based real estate fi rm started by her parents more than 40 years ago. "We've been working on this process for the past 10 years," Williams told Mainebiz. Her parents, Jon and Nancy Dawson, who founded Bangor- based ERA Dawson Bradford Co. in 1974, remain active in the day-to-day business of the company. Her father retains the title of president, while her mother, who is involved in the greater Bangor community, continues as lead generator and chief relationship offi - cer. ERA Dawson Bradford has more than 70 employees and sold $142 mil- lion of real estate in 2016, Williams said. Its main offi ce is in Bangor, with a smaller one in Orono. Husson University in Bangor an- nounced that its College of Business will be offering new associate and bachelor's degrees this fall. Degree concentrations in computer informa- tion systems, software development and website design and develop- ment will be available to those pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Technology. Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor and Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft entered into a partnership to address the shortage of registered nurses in Piscataquis County. Beginning this academic year, the college will deliver the general education courses required for the as- sociate in science nursing degree at the Penquis Higher Education Center in Dover-Foxcroft in anticipation of offering nursing courses at the site beginning fall of 2018. The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded $531,999 to the Steven A. Bean Municipal Airport in Rangeley to support work to expand and recon- struct the airport's apron.
