www.HartfordBusiness.com July 17, 2017 • Hartford Business Journal 7 Physicians and Clinicians Trinity Health Of New England is differentiated by our commitment to always putting people rst. Over the past several months I have been sharing the elements of our people- centered strategy, which correspond directly with the word PEOPLE. So far we have discussed people- centered care, engaged colleagues, and operational excellence. The next aspect of our people-centered strategy is Physicians and Clinicians. Physician and clinicians are the backbone of people-centered care; they are the foundation of everything we do. Our goal is to work hand-in-hand with them across all areas of our strategic plan as they lead the way. The role of physicians and clinicians has expanded greatly. Of course, clinical excellence is at the forefront of what it means to be a great provider. Integral to clinical excellence is ensuring quality and safety, and providing a great patient experience. Beyond that, however, today's physicians and clinicians must embrace entirely new skill sets that address topics such as technology, electronic health records, process improvement and efciency, system delivery and reimbursement reform. It is a very demanding and challenging environment, and the physicians and clinicians afliated with Trinity Health Of New England have proven to be up to the task. One of the innovative ways that Trinity Health Of New England is addressing these challenges is by holding our own Physician Leadership Institute. In concert with the American Association of Physician Leadership, this program will expose current and future physician leaders to various core management and leadership topics, taught by skilled experts over the course of 11 months. The program will consist of monthly, full-day sessions, and is geared towards physicians new to leadership positions who have not yet had formal management/leadership training. This is but one example of the ways Trinity Health Of New England is focused on offering an outstanding experience for providers; one that not only offers a great environment to practice medicine, but also encourages their active participation in the transformation and delivery of health care. As we develop and implement our strategic plan, physicians and clinicians are active participants in shaping our future. Whether we are addressing pressing demands of today, or looking ahead and envisioning what the tomorrow holds, we will do it together, in a spirit of collaboration and shared responsibility. Some of this requires structural changes and the development of new organizations. For instance, we are creating a new Physician Network Organization (PNO) that will bring together all of the resources of the physicians across our entire New England footprint. The PNO will be a catalyst to enhance performance and improve the patient experience. It will also enable us to more effectively address population health management and value based care. The PNO will enable us to adopt a single technology platform, and achieve other operational efciencies that will ultimately improve quality and lower cost. When we speak about our people-centered strategy we are, of course, focused on our patients and communities. But we are equally committed to our physicians and clinicians, our partners in providing care. They are an integral part of our strategy and the foundation upon which our success is built. Christopher M. Dadlez President and Chief Executive Ofcer Trinity Health Of New England Together for health.
