It used to be that trampolines
were the territory of backyards
or that climbing walls or throw-
ing-speed contests could be
found mainly at carnivals.
Now they're found at many
malls, thanks to fast-growing
entertainment chains like Sky
Zone, which opened on Route 9
in Westborough in 2013, those
activities and more are some-
times little more than a trip
across the shopping plaza away.
Los Angeles-based Sky Zone
pitches itself as a fitness center
thanks to its trampolines and
warrior course, as well as a
place for family gatherings or
charity events. In addition to
Westborough, where Sky Zone
is located behind a Burlington
Coat Factory, the company also
has locations in Boston,
Danvers, Everett and Kingston.
Tickets start at $15 for an
hour-long trampoline-jump ses-
sion, with other rates for birth-
day-party reservations or activi-
ties like laser tag.
Others are getting in on the
action, too.
A shopping center under way
in Marlborough, the Apex Center
of New England on Route 20,
will have a 150,000-square-foot
entertainment complex with bil-
liards, trampolines, an indoor
go-kart track, rock wall climbing
and more. Others have popped
up across the state: Altitude
Trampoline Park in Billerica, and
Launch Trampoline Park – start-
ed by former New England
Patriot star Ty Law – in
Methuen, Norwood, Springfield
and Watertown. K1 Speed has
indoor go-kart tracks in
Kingston and Wilmington.

in Charlton opened in April.
