Nichols spokeswoman Lorraine Martinelle in June said the $200,000 purchase is expected to be complete in mid-July. There are no plans for the public, nine-hole course, except to continue to run it as usual. But Martinelle said in a statement there is potential to develop experiential learning opportunities for students enrolled in Nichols' sports management and hospitality management pro - grams. The purchase includes the course, a clubhouse, including a restaurant and a garage at 80 Airport Road, and an utility build - ing and a second garage at 10 Dudley-Oxford Road. The college is using funds from its capital budget to buy the property, which is adjacent to the Nichols campus on Center Road. The Nichols College golf team has practiced on the course for years, and the college hosts annu - al golf tournaments and other fun- draising events there. Nichols will join more than 80 colleges nation- wide that own golf courses, The current operator of the club – Jonathan Hoenig, CEO of Tri- State Golf Co. – will continue to operate the facility.
