Where digital advertising will be spent this year: Digital marketing spending Google Facebook Microsoft Verizon Twitter Other 33% 16.2% 2.7% 2.1% 1% 45.4% The research firm eMarketer was bullish on national ad spending this year, making the following forecasts: n A focus on mobile will help bring media spending to more than $206 billion this year, a moderate increase of 6.1 per- cent. n Mobile ads will account for more than 70 percent of digital and more than one-quarter of total media spending. Mobile ad spending is expected to surpass TV in 2019. n TV will total $73 billion in ad spending this year, but increases will be sluggish through 2021, at 2 to 2.5 per- cent each year. n Facebook is expected to bring in $36 billion in world- wide ad revenues this year, up one-third from 2016. Facebook is easily the top sell- er of digital display ads.
