Shipman & Goodwin attorney chairing CT Security Advisory Council Shipman & Goodwin partner Donna L. Brooks has been appointed by Connecticut Banking Com- missioner Jorge L. Perez to serve as chair of the State Department of Banking's Securities Advisory Council. The council provides guidance and recom- mendations to the Banking Department concerning state securities and business laws. In her practice, Brooks' work includes advising companies regarding compliance with federal and state securities laws. Gerber Technology names VP of global service Tolland-based Gerber Technology has hired Brandy Moore as vice president of global service and aftermarket. Moore brings experience with service delivery, remote monitoring and analytics, and web-enabled services to help Gerber assist customers with digi- tizing and optimizing their workflows to maximize uptime and productivity. Brandy joined Gerber from Schneider Electric, a French multinational corporation specializing in energy management and automation solu- tions, spanning hardware, software and services, where she most recently served as global ser- vices director. Lockton names leader of Northeast operations Insurance broker Lockton has named Robert Connolly as chairman of Lockton Northeast, over- seeing the firm's offices in Hartford, Washington, D.C., New York City, Boston and Philadelphia. He succeeds Michael Calabrese, who will serve as vice chairman of Lockton's Northeast operations. Connolly has been president of Lockton's Wash- ington office since its founding in 2005. Before Lock- ton, Connolly was a managing director at Marsh & McLennan. CT Bar Association installs new president The Connecticut Bar Association installed Karen DeMeola, assistant dean of students for the UConn School of Law, as its 94th president. She succeeds Monte E. The foundation provides scholarships to students who are enrolled in a Connecticut physician-assis- tant program and state residents attending out-of-state physician-assistant programs. • • • Bob's Discount Furniture has pledged over $125,000 to Autism Speaks this year, and will continue its partnership to enhance lives and accelerate solutions for individuals with autism and their families. Over the past four years, Bob's has contrib- uted $350,000 to Autism Speaks through sponsorships and gift card donations. • • • Simsbury Bank sponsored the Great- er Hartford YMCA's fall and winter youth sports leagues for 2017. The bank's $1,000 sponsorship will help provide activities including basketball, soccer and t-ball for kids ages 2 to 14.
