Szanton said it hired Hebert Construction of Lewiston for the job. Construction will start Oct. 1. Susan Collins and Angus King said that the National Science Foundation awarded the University of Maine and Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences in Boothbay two grants totaling $574,650 for a joint study of a marine protozoan parasite that infects oysters. The laboratory received $399,908 for the project and the university received $174,742. Fire-ravaged Sanford mill to be demolished After a June 23 fi re that destroyed part of the former Stenton Trust mill in Sanford, town councilors have called for demolishing the entire building. e Journal Tribune reported that the state Department of Environmental Protection has recommended that the federal Environmental Protection Agency help with assessment and poten- tial remediation. e mill has been vacant about a decade. Councilors discussed taking possession of the mill from owner Gateway Properties LLC, a company owned by Jonathan Morse of Reno, Nev. ree boys were charged with arson in the fi re.
