The event, which runs from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., will feature updates on Connecticut's tax policy, an address by Department of Revenue Services Commissioner Kevin Sullivan and three concurrent breakout sessions. Breakout session topics will include common tax risks and opportunities for Connecticut-based businesses, understanding out-of-state tax obligations and how to reduce Connecticut income taxes through the new apportionment rules. There will also be a discussion on sales and use taxes for the manufacturing industry. Cost to attend is $145 for members; $185 for nonmembers. MANUFACTURING Pratt jet engine surpasses flight milestone East Hartford-based Pratt & Whitney said its F119 engine, which powers Lockheed Martin's F-22 Raptor, has surpassed a milestone of 500,000 flight hours. The accomplishment was announced at the Paris Air Show and reflects Pratt's confidence in the engine helping to keep the F-22 Raptor, a tactical fighter jet, flying for the next 30 to 40 years, said Amanda Glode, F119 program direc- tor at Pratt. Pratt is a division of Farmington-based United Technologies Corp. Two F119 engines power the F-22 Raptor, pro- viding a combination of stealth technologies and a thrust-vectoring nozzle that allows speed, agility, precision and situational awareness. Nearly 200 F119-powered F-22 Raptors are in service with the U.S. Air Force in Virginia, California, Nevada, Florida, Hawaii and Alaska, the company said. Kaman inks Rolls' engine-parts pact Bloomfield aeroparts maker Kaman Corp. says it will supply British jet-engine maker Rolls-Royce Plc with engine parts made in Bloomfield and other Kaman facilities. Kaman, which attended the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, France, said its Kaman Aerosystems division signed a long-term agreement with Rolls-Royce for components for Rolls' Trent 7000 engine program for the Airbus A330 widebody jetliner. Kaman's facilities in Bloomfield, Bennington, Vt., Wichita, Kan., and Darwen, United Kingdom, will make the parts. Financial terms weren't disclosed. Kevin Sullivan ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & CONSTRUCTION Yard Goats Double-A home ballpark named best in U.S. Dunkin' Donuts Park has been named the Best Double-A ballpark in America, according to an online poll conducted by Ballpark Digest. The online voting began May 30 and ended June 20. Dunkin' Donuts Park competed against the 30 Double-A clubs spread across the country in the Eastern League, Texas League and Southern League. The Hartford stadium, home to the Yard Goats, edged out the Altoona Curve's Pennsylvania home ballpark in an online competition at www.ballparkdigest.com, with more than 178,000 fans voting over a period of three weeks. The Yard Goats, which is a Double-A Eastern League affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, moved into its new home this season and has played in front of sold out crowds 15 times.
