MacCormac; and Phil Ouellette. The award is given to individuals who serve as an inspiration to others, and are recognized by the Middlesex community as unselfishly giving their time and talent to produce a lasting benefit to the area. The Griffins established the Peach Pit Foundation in 2004, which seeks to help working people who need a leg up in life. MacCormac retired from Capewell Components Co. after 30 years serving as the company's president and CEO. Ouellette is a co-owner and permittee of Eli Cannon's Tap Room in Middletown. ▶ ▶ The Society of Industrial and Office Realtors New England Chapter recently celebrated its inaugural global SIOR Service Day by joining veterans support group, Pease Greeters, to welcome back 170 troops who had served for the past nine months in Afghanistan. The chapter donated food for the event as well as a check to Pease Greeters for $1,400. BLUMSHAPIRO HOSTS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FOR JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT GOODWIN COLLEGE HONORS WOMEN IN THE COMMUNITY REALTORS NEW ENGLAND CHAPTER CELEBRATES GLOBAL SERVICE DAY ▶ ▶ As part of Junior Achievement Career Walk, BlumShapiro's West Hartford headquarters hosted high school students from Conard, Hall and Kingswood-Oxford for an overview and tour as well as a discussion of the types of occupations the firm employs and qualities they look for when hiring people. ACCOLADES & MORE ▶ ▶ Goodwin College recently held its Real Life, Real Women Sunday Brunch to celebrate inspiring women, students and the work of the Goodwin College Foundation. The event highlighted three outstanding women in the community as honorees: Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman; Donna Galluzzo, founding member of the Goodwin College Foundation; and Melody Currey, commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services.
