ANNOUNCES DISTINGUISHED CITIZEN AWARDS
The Middlesex County Chamber of
Commerce has announced the 2017
recipients of the chamber's
Distinguished Citizen Award: Bill and
Sharon Griffin; Kenneth W. MacCormac;
and Phil Ouellette.
The award is given to individuals who
serve as an inspiration to others, and are
recognized by the Middlesex community
as unselfishly giving their time and talent
to produce a lasting benefit to the area.
The Griffins established the Peach Pit Foundation in 2004, which
seeks to help working people who need a leg up in life.
MacCormac retired from Capewell Components Co. after 30 years
serving as the company's president and CEO.
Ouellette is a co-owner and permittee of Eli Cannon's Tap Room in
Middletown.
▶ ▶ The Society of Industrial and Office Realtors New England Chapter recently celebrated
its inaugural global SIOR Service Day by joining veterans support group, Pease Greeters,
to welcome back 170 troops who had served for the past nine months in Afghanistan.
The chapter donated food for the event as well as a check to Pease Greeters for $1,400.

as a discussion of the types of occupations the firm
employs and qualities they look for when hiring
people.

Brunch to celebrate inspiring women,
students and the work of the Goodwin
College Foundation. The event
highlighted three outstanding women
in the community as honorees: Lt.
Governor Nancy Wyman; Donna
Galluzzo, founding member of the
Goodwin College Foundation; and
Melody Currey, commissioner of the
Connecticut Department of
Administrative Services.
