Packing it in Office-supply giant Staples held its 4th Annual Cradles to Crayons Backpack- a-Thon last month at its Framingham headquarters. More than 1,000 Staples volunteers assembled 20,000 backpacks with 460,000 school supplies to help children in need in areas including Framingham and Worcester. Legions of support Barre Savings Bank donated $2,500 each to the American Legion Post 2 in Barre and to the American Legion Post 206 in Paxton. Post 2 will use the funds to build a bathroom accessible to those with disabilities. Post 206 will purchase a new, clean-burning gas furnace.
