Geitz, president and CEO of Simsbury Bank, into its Business Hall of Fame at its recent 37th induction ceremony and dinner held at the Hartford Marriott Downtown in Hartford. In addition to Geitz, other inductees included Bernard C. Schilberg, CEO of Prime Materials Recovery Inc.; Connie K. Weaver, former senior executive vice presi- dent and chief marketing and communications officer of TIAA; and Coleman Levy, veteran lawyer and philanthropist. Four Connecticut companies made the list, including Praxair, Xerox, Bloomfield-based Cigna and Aetna in Hartford. ▶ ▶ The CT River Valley Chamber of Commerce joined Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union recently for a Business After Hours event. The event drew regional professionals from varying backgrounds to network and learn more about Nutmeg State Financial. ▶ ▶ Quinnipiac University's School of Business partnered with Junior Achievement of Southwest New England for its first community service day at Cook Hill School in Wallingford. Fifty-five undergraduate and MBA students from the School of Business taught students in kindergarten and first and second grades lessons about business and entrepreneurism. JACKSON LABORATORY HOSTS SCIENCE BOWL SCRIMMAGE QUINNIPIAC UNIVERSITY BUSINESS SCHOOL STUDENTS TEACH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LESSONS ▶ ▶ The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine recently hosted middle school students from Talcott Mountain Academy in Avon for a Science Bowl scrimmage to help them prepare for their participation in the U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl. The Science Bowl is a nationwide academic competition that tests students' knowledge in all areas of science and mathematics.
