BANKING & FINANCE CityPlace II is United's branch choice Glastonbury community lender United Bank says it will open this fall its first downtown Hartford branch in CityPlace II. The 1,800-square-foot remote office will be housed in the for- mer McDonald's fast-food space on the skyscraper's ground floor at 151 Asylum, fronting the corner of Asylum and Trumbull streets. Bank regulators must approve the branch, United said. Two other banks — Bank of Ameri- ca and Webster Bank — already have branch offices in the building. United's new branch will be a block away from the Goodwin Square sky- scraper, where United announced last Valentine's Day to relocate its admin- istrative headquarters and 200 staffers from Glastonbury, starting this summer. A business banker, mortgage-loan officer and financial advisor and four teller stations will occupy the down- town branch, United CEO William H.W. (Bill) Crawford IV said. When it opens, the downtown Hartford branch will be the $6.7 billion-asset bank's 53rd in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Swing-U will provide golfers with one-on-one training led by a Gary Gilchrist-certified instructor team via the app or web, the company said. For $24.99 per month or $199.99 per year, Swing-U students will receive unlimited lessons and drills focused across all aspects of a student's training, including technical, physical, mental, strat- egy and personal. Founded in 2010, Swing by Swing Golf Inc. originated as the Back9Network, which hoped to launch a golf lifestyle TV network. Back9 filed for bankruptcy in 2015 after a series of missteps and financial issues, and re-emerged in 2016 as Swing by Swing Golf Inc., which is an app the company purchased in 2014.
