NEW HAMPSHIRE: First in the Nation • Profiles in Excellence 183 from the nominal geometry. Several engineers from that company later moved on to other employers, bringing more customers and projects with them as they continued to rave about TURBOCAM's quality and technology. Looking back at that period, most of the advanced programming work was done with monochrome CAD monitors and 386 PCs, and midnight oil. But TURBOCAM learned to elegantly harness computer technology to produce reliable processes that translated customer data into beautifully finished parts. Faster computers further reduced programming and machining time, while advanced soware and programming expertise increased the reliability of the process. Over the years, TURBOCAM grew its manufacturing facilities in the United States, England, and India to integrate the finest equipment and personnel to produce a wide range of engine parts, including those for aircra and helicopter engines, and rocket turbopumps for satellite launchers. With parts ranging from less than one inch to more than 40 inches in diameter, and with developing single-piece prototypes to production runs in the hundreds, TURBOCAM developed into a leading manufacturer for some of the most critical parts in aerospace. However, business slowed with the Asian flu of 1998–99. Turbomachinery companies lost more than 40 percent of their sales revenue that year. While its mission was committed to paper and refined in 1994, TURBOCAM's mission derived from ideas discussed by a group of Christian entrepreneurs at Dartmouth College a decade earlier, as follows: "TURBOCAM exists as a business for the purpose of honoring God, creating wealth for its employees, and supporting Christian service to God and people. TURBOCAM seeks to accomplish this purpose by achieving excellence in the manufacturing of turbomachinery parts by Five-Axis machining and related technologies and satisfying the needs of our customers for Quality, Price, Delivery and Service. As we interact with our customers, suppliers, and employees we hold ourselves accountable to God's law expressed in the Bible. We are committed to integrity in our business and personal relationships." Noronha explains: "Our Mission is a statement of who we are, and why we exist. It has guided our company policies and our behavior as we have expanded from 25 people in 1993 to more than 700 in 2015. ere are many ways to achieve success in business. I have learned that in a business, God comes first. He has blessed our efforts and made us a growing "Our Mission is a statement of who we are, and why we exist. It has guided our company policies and our behavior as we have expanded from 25 people in 1993 to more than 700 in 2015." An aerial view of TURBOCAM's corporate headquarters in Barrington, NH.
