New England called the State of New
Hampshire enjoy and cherish the
proud traditions, moments of glory
and historical political facts in our
continued quest to be free with our
self-government and right of conscience.
is small state has more than its share of historical
facts and here are some of the most memorable.
1. e first overt act of aggression in the American
Revolution was the assault and capture of Fort William
and Mary at New Castle (December 14 and 15, 1774).
Paul Revere rode on horseback the day before from
Boston to warn the people of Portsmouth that their
arms and ammunition were going to be taken for use
against them by the British.
2. e first state to have its members of the Continental
Congress bear arms against the King. Colonel Nathaniel
Folsom and Major John Sullivan were part of the assault
at Fort William and Mary (December 1774).
3. e first of the American colonies to separate from
the King and produce the first written constitution
creating its own new free and independent government
