The People's United Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of People's United Bank in Portland, an- nounced it awarded a total of $20,000 to three Maine nonprofi ts. Good Shepherd Food Bank in Auburn re- ceived $10,000; Easter Seals Maine in Portland, $7,500; and Special Olympics Maine in South Portland, $2,500. Portland Public Library said it re- ceived a $50,000 grant from the National Library of Medicine. The funds will support programs to bridge the gap in access to health informa- tion for its patrons, focusing on the most vulnerable members of the community — teens, immigrants and refugees and the homeless. Re-Fridge, a mini-fridge recycling fi rm in Brunswick, announced a partnership with Goodwill Industries of Northern New England to purchase all if its un- sold mini-fridges. The fridges will be in- spected to determine whether they can be re-sold, repaired or safely discarded. Hammond Lumber promotes third generation Belgrade-based Hammond Lumber Co. named Mike Hammond, a third- generation owner, as president and CEO. He served as vice president of the family-owned business for 20 years. He succeeds his father, Don Hammond, who has been president since 1997 and will become vice presi- dent. Hammond Lumber, founded in 1953 by Clifton "Skip" and Verna Hammond, produces eastern white pine lumber and is one of the larg- est independent retailers of building materials in the Northeast. Nationally, it ranked 35th in sales on the 2016 ProSales 100 List, with $151 million in sales. e company has 460 employees with 13 retail locations across Maine. Wilton furniture maker to expand Under new ownership, Maine Made Furniture in Wilton has secured new contracts and plans to expand its workforce. e Morning Sentinel reported that Tim Lovett, who bought the company last September and relocated it to Wilton's former Bass Shoe Factory industrial park, has received sponsorship from the town of Wilton for his application for a workforce development grant. Lovett told the newspaper the grant could help him boost Maine Made's employees from 12 to 18 by the end of the year. New contracts include a deal with Sunday River to build 1,000 pieces of furniture for the resort's Grand Summit Hotel. A Company of Girls in Portland, Center for Wisdom's Women in Lewiston and Wayfi nder Schools in New Gloucester each received $2,500; Auburn Public Library, $1,830; and Lewiston Public Schools, $670. Taco Bell opened a location at 458 Center St. in Auburn. Isaacson & Raymond, a law fi rm in Lewiston, announced that Laurier Raymond Jr. has become of counsel in preparation for his retirement later this year. Raymond, who has 60 years of experience including 33 as years as Androscoggin County Probate Judge, is co-founder of the fi rm. Nancy Marshall Communications in Augusta announced it has been named PR agency of record for The Orvis Co. Inc., a Manchester, Vt., retail and travel brand focused on conserva- tion. The fi rm will manage public rela- tions and create a marketing commu- nications plan for the company. Blue Marble Geographics, a developer and provider of software products and services for highly accurate geospatial data conversion solutions, announced it has established a partnership with Pointerra, an Australian company focused on the development and com- mercialization of its 3D geospatial data technology, to provide cloud- based LiDAR data delivery to Global Mapper, its GIS software.
