Schwartz has been elected to partner at Murtha Cullina LLP's Hartford office. Schwartz is a member of the municipal, land use and construc- tion practice groups and has been an associate of Murtha Cullina since 2012. Schwartz represents municipalities, developers, businesses, and individuals in all phases of local land use approval and complex real estate litigation. CT Hospital Association hires director of population health Wallingford-based Connecticut Hospital Association announced the hiring of Gina Burrows as director of population health. Burrows will manage activities that support CHA's role in population health, including ad- vancing care coordination, information flow, health improvement through convening members for shared learning and community outreach. Most recently, Burrows was administrative supervi- sor at The Hospital of Central Connecticut. St. Francis adds specialist in general surgery Dr. Marko Lujic has joined the medical staff of St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center as a spe- cialist in general surgery. Lujic completed his residency training in gen- eral surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He speaks Croatian and Italian in addition to English. Middletown's MARC Community Resources names development director MARC Community Resources in Middletown — which provides programs and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities — has named Kandyce Aust director of development. Aust has 25 years of nonprofit, higher education and development experience. Mason Inc. hires director of digital strategies and analytics Bethany-based integrated marketing communi- cations firm Mason Inc. has hired Joshua Giardino as director of digital strategies and analytics. Giardino has more than 10 years of digital marketing experience and a background in software engineering and project management, with experience in advertis- ing, email marketing, conversion rate optimization, and social media marketing and content strategy. Webster Bank promotes five executives Webster Bank has announced the promotions of Christopher Motl, Samuel Hanna, Randall Blattner, Josephine Moran and Brian Runkle. Motl, executive vice president, middle market bank- ing, was promoted to executive vice president, head of commercial banking. He will lead all commercial banking business units. Motl will also become a member of the executive management committee. He also was promoted to executive vice presi- dent of Webster Financial Corp. Motl joined Web- ster in 2004. Hanna, senior vice president, director, Web- ster Capital Finance, will now lead middle market bank- ing at Webster Bank. Hanna, who joined Webster in 2006, succeeds Motl. Additionally, Richard Matte, senior vice president, Webster Capital Finance, will add opera- tional responsibilities to his sales leadership duties. Blattner, Moran and Runkle all were promoted to senior vice president. Blattner, based in New Britain, is director, busi- ness applications delivery, and brings more than 20 years of IT experience to the chief information offi- cers group. Prior to joining Webster, Blattner worked for the Bank of Oklahoma. Moran, based in Southington, is sales manager, Webster Investments Services. She has more than 25 years of industry experience. Most recently, she worked for Columbia Bank in New Jersey. Runkle, based in Waterbury, leads transformation and operational excellence. He has more than 20 years of experience, most recently at GE Capital. HR consulting firm KardasLarson names partner KardasLarson LLC, a human resources consulting firm based in Glastonbury, has named Leesa Schipani as a partner. The firm provides tactical and strategic HR services focused on small to midsize businesses, municipalities and nonprofit organizations. Schipani joined KardasLarson in 2014 as a con- sultant and progressed to training and development practice leader. Hartford Seminary announces interim academic dean Scott Thumma, professor of sociology of religion and director of the doctor of ministry program at Hartford Seminary, will serve as academic dean for the next 18 months. Thumma is director of the Hartford Institute for Religion Research and co-leads the Faith Communi- ties Today research project. Mark Twain House elects attorney to board The Mark Twain House & Museum has elected Jessica L. Ritter, a partner at Shipman & Goodwin LLP, to its board of trustees. Ritter represents schools in student, school gov- ernance and employment matters. Ritter works with both public and independent schools addressing student conduct issues, school policies, labor dis- putes and employment litigation in education. BlumShapiro elects new partner West Hartford accounting firm BlumShapiro has elected CPA Corey C. Veneziano as a partner in its tax compliance department. Veneziano has experi- ence in tax compliance, consulting and planning for privately held businesses and their owners. My Sisters' Place is a Hartford-based nonprofit that provides emergency shelter, permanent housing and other services to homeless women and children. The school with the most votes at the end of the voting period will win $5,000 for the project of their choosing. • • • The Prudential Foundation has awarded the University of Hartford's Entrepreneurial Center a renewed grant of $75,000. The University of Hartford's Entrepreneurial Center provides hands- on coaching and business training for new and expanding small businesses, as well as aspiring entrepreneurs, throughout Connecticut.
