When polled, WBJ readers were split on whether their businesses had fully turned around, with most relying on new revenue streams. F L A S H P O L L Vander Hooven approved as next MWCC president The Massachusetts Board of Higher Education voted in January to approve Dr. James Vander Hooven as the third president of Mount Wachusett Community College. He will take over the posi- tion March 19. Vander Hooven will replace cur- rent President Daniel M. Asquino, who announced his retirement last year. Vander Hooven has extensive past experience in educational leadership, most recently working as the vice presi- dent for enrollment management at Landmark College in Putney, Vt. UMass Memorial to join cancer collaborative UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston have notified the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission that UMass Memorial plans to join the Dana-Farber Cancer Collaborative, covering adult oncology services. Membership in the collaborative gives patients with complex cancer cases expe- dited access to Dana-Farber specialists and provides training and educational opportunities for doctors at member organizations, UMass Memorial said in a statement. UMass Memorial said it would be the first academic medical center to join the Dana-Farber Cancer Collaborative. The Health Policy Commission will review the plans before they are finalized.
