David Bronson won the "Alumni Career Award," Mian Riaz received the "Bernard Lown Alumni Humanitarian Award" and Ewa Kleczyk captured " e Spirit of Maine Achievement Award." During his career, Bronson has served as a physician, researcher, professor of medicine and president and CEO of the Cleveland Clinic Community Hospitals and Family Health Centers; Riaz is an expert on food process- ing who directs the Food Protein Research and Development Center at Texas A&M University; and Kleczyk was named a "Top Female Executive" in 2015 by the International Women's Leadership Association and received a "Top Five Business Women Award" from the New Directions Chapter of the American Business Women's Association for her work in the phar- maceutical marketing research fi eld. The Bennett Law Firm in Portland announced that Peter Bennett was selected to the 2016 "New England Super Lawyers" list. Bennett was recognized as a lawyer representing management in the fi eld of labor and employment law and is presi- dent of the fi rm. Soft Trac LLC, a consulting fi rm spe- cializing in nonprofi t technology in North Yarmouth, said Jeron Comeau completed Microix certifi cation train- ing. Comeau is a nonprofi t software consultant with the fi rm. Camden National Bank recognized six nonprofi t leaders who have dedicated themselves to helping their organi- zations achieve their goals. "Leaders & Luminaries" winners, who earned $5,000 for their nonprofi ts were Richard Corbin of Oasis Free Clinics in Brunswick, Sharon Goguen, Broadreach Family & Community Services, Belfast; Elizabeth McLellan, Partners for World Health, South Portland; and Allan Teel, ElderCare Network of Lincoln County, Damariscotta. e bank also recognized two "Emerging Board Leaders," who received $1,000 each for their organizations; Winners were Annemarie Albiston of Aphasia Center of Maine in Carrabassett Valley and Katie Wallace of The Locker Project in Portland. As part of its 50th anniversary cel- ebration, Catholic Charities Maine selected Northern Maine Community College as its "Nonprofi t Partner Award"winner, Larry Lachance as its "Volunteer Partner Award" recipient, St. Michael's Parish in Augusta as its "Faith-based Partner Award" winner, Nancy Pierce as its "Inspiration Award" winner and HealthInfoNet as its "Healthcare Partner Award" recipient. Maine Preservation announced its 2016 "Honor Awards" winners including Ella R. Hodgkins Intermediate School and Kennebec Courthouse in Augusta; St. Andre's, Biddeford; Somerset Place (formerly Brewer High School), Brewer; Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, Caribou; Charles E. Moody School - Good Will-Hinckley, Fairfi eld; Halfway Rock Light Station, Harpswell; Brick North - Thompson's Point, George S. Hunt Block (660 Congress St.), Rosa True and Westbrook Seminary Building - Alumni Hall, Portland; Knox County Courthouse, Rockland; Roosevelt School, South Portland; Edmund E. Goodwin House, Springvale/Sanford; and Merrill Memorial Library, Yarmouth. e city of Portland and the Portland Development Corp. selected Diversifi ed Communications as its 2016 Business of the Year Award winner, Maine College of Art as its 2016 Economic Development Achievement Award recipient and Maine Standard Biofuels as its 2016 Small Business of the Year. Preti Flaherty, a law fi rm in Portland, announced that it was ranked among "2017 Best Law Firms" by U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers. e fi rm received 15 Tier 1 awards in the Augusta and Portland and Concord, N.H. metropolitan practice areas. e fi rm also said that Michael Lane, a partner and a member of the fi rm's Real Estate Group, was among a select group of authors chosen to contribute to the recently released "A Practical Guide to Land Use in Maine," an authoritative source on the legal topics associated with the pro- tection, use and regulation impacting Maine's geography.
