Woodard & Curran, an integrated engineering, science and operations company in Portland, said it received the "2016 Sponsor of the Year Award" from the New England Water Works Association, the region's largest and oldest not-for-profi t organization of water works professionals. Macpage LLC, an accounting fi rm in South Portland, announced that Alison Herrick, principal, was selected as a Maine Society of Certifi ed Public Accountants "Women to Watch Award" recipient. WCSH 6 in Portland announced its News Center's "6 Who Care" award winners. Recipients were Jenny Pendleton, Caring for Kids; Betty Robinson, Tree Street Youth Center; Kevin Fitzpatrick, STRIVE; Mary Ann McLean, VNA Home Health Hospice; and Al Ragucci, Camp Sunshine. Cyndi Broyer of Mother Seton House was the "Mary Rines ompson Award" winner. e program's "Agency of Distinction" was Furniture Friends. Preti Flaherty, a law fi rm in Portland, said that nine of its Portland-based attorneys were selected for inclusion in the 2016 edition of "New England Super Lawyers." e fi rm also had six Portland-based attorneys named as "Rising Stars." The American Lung Association in Maine recently presented its annual awards. MaineHealth was named the "Roselle Huddilston Award" winner for its lung cancer screening operation and continued work on tobacco preven- tion, the Maine Solar Stakeholders Advocacy Coalition was the recipi- ent of the "Healthy Air Leadership Award" for improving lung health in Maine through research, education or advocacy eff orts focused on protecting or enhancing indoor and/or outdoor air quality and Deb Violette, founder of Free ME from Lung Cancer, won the "Lung Force Hero Award" for raising her voice and sharing her story to raise awareness for lung health. Skelton Taintor & Abbott, a law fi rm in Auburn, announced the Bryan Dench, Stephen Wade and Rebecca Webber were named to the New England Super Lawyers 2016 list. MEMIC, a workers' compensation specialist in Portland, said 43 of its employees received their workers' com- pensation professional diplomas from the American Society of Workers' Compensation Professionals. American Airlines recently honored retiring pilot Michael Cardello of Cumberland Foreside for serving 35 years with the company. Verrill Dana, a law fi rm in Portland, announced that the 2016 edition of New England Super Lawyers and Rising Stars recognized a total of 51 of its attorneys for excellence in their individual areas of practice. e list included Harold Friedman, Mark Googins and Karen Frink Wolf, who were included in the Top 100 New England "Super Lawyers." Frink Wolf was also listed in the Top 50 Women. Patriot Subaru in Saco said it captured a Cox Automotive Sustainability Award for leadership in community contribu- tions and in-store green sustainability programs related to energy conserva- tion and waste reduction. e dealership also announced it was named to the Automotive News "Best Dealerships To Work For" Top 100 list and worked with STRIVE to help raise $30,000 through the put "Kevin on the Roof " program. The Maine Grocers & Food Producers named Tim McGonagle as its 2016 Associate of the Year. McGonagle, a senior vice president, agency manager and account executive with United Insurance, is board secretary for the organization. Dan Mitchell, shareholder and co-chair of the Data Security Team at Bernstein Shur in Portland, was named to the National Law Journal's second annual list of Cyber Security Trailblazers for his work in cybersecurity law.
