G I V I N G G U I D E 2016 www.HartfordBusiness.com November 22, 2016 • Hartford Business Journal 13 The Foundation serves as a Regional Advisory Council, bringing business, civic and neighborhood perspectives to the development of programs and responding to educational needs in the community. It promotes the College as an integral part of Hartford's cultural and business district. GOALS • Raise funds for scholarships, facilities and equipment, books and educational materials, faculty and curriculum development. • Serve as a prudent and effective steward of annual, endowment and capital gifts donated to the College. • Increase awareness of the College and promote broad public participation in its educational, cultural and community activities. • Advise and support the President in the development of credit and credit-free programs that are consistent with the goals of higher education in Connecticut FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES The Changing Lives Gala — CCC's signature event for access to higher education in Hartford — will be held April 20, 2017 on the campus at historic Centinel Hill Hall auditorium. The Gala raises funds for scholarships and programs that help students succeed. Sponsorships ($2,500 to $20,000), ticket purchases ($100 pp), journal advertising and donating to live and silent auctions are ways to support the Gala. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES Campus Naming Gift Opportunities The naming of a part of Capital Community College's campus (formerly G. Fox & Company Department Store) is a donor option for major and planned gifts in support of endowment and programs. Naming gifts provide individuals and businesses with a permanent and visible way to support the College and educational access. Giving levels start at $1,000 through the Windows to The Future program. Scholarships — Scholarships create access for deserving students. Capital utilizes more federal and state financial aid on a per student basis than any other CT community college but cost roadblocks remain for many students who are the first in their families to pursue a degree. A year of full time study costs $4,173 in tuition and fees. Hartford Heritage Program — The Hartford Heritage Program (www.capitalcc.edu/HHP/) links college courses with the city's cultural and historic institutions and places. By teaching themes that explore Hartford, the city becomes an extended classroom, and Capital's diverse, urban student population gains an understanding of and appreciation for their community. Gifts for the Heritage program are matched on a one for two basis by a National Endowment for the Humanities challenge grant Annual and Program Support — With more than 60 accredited degrees and certificates, Capital seeks financial support to improve academic quality and campus life. Contributions enhance and maintain labs, make book and e-learning acquisitions possible and enrich teaching and learning through art, music and cultural programs.
