Since 1894, Hartford's Camp Courant has provided a free summer experience for Hartford children, ages 5-12, that promotes positive youth development and healthy lifestyle choices through active learning and fun activities. More than 1,000 children attend Camp Courant each summer. BOARD OF DIRECTORS The warm summer days at Hartford's Camp Courant are filled with moments of excitement, fun, friendship, and self-confidence. As the oldest and largest FREE summer day camp in the nation, Hartford's Camp Courant provides a safe, exciting and educational environment in which Hartford's youth, ages five (5) through 12, participate in active learning opportunities and fun activities focused on positive youth development and healthy lifestyle choices. Campers become part of a historic camp community that continues to grow and evolve, but has also stood the test of time for 122 years. Camp's mission is grounded in the central premise that fun yet educational experiences will have a positive and lifelong impact on our young campers, many of whom lack structured programming during the summer months. As a youth development organization, we combine traditional camp activities with enrichment programming that exposes our campers to ideas and opportunities which spark their imaginations and inspires them to be their best in a safe, nurturing, fresh-air setting. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES Our annual year-end Buddy Bash celebration is held at our campsite in Farmington in September every year. The event is put together by a large committee of board, staff and community stakeholders. The event also honors one organization and one individual who are dedicated to supporting an exciting, educational and robust youth-development experience for thousands of Hartford's kids, summer after summer. The 2016 award winners were Dan Moore-Eversource and Lego Community Fund, U.S. More than 15 restaurants supported the 2016 Buddy Bash, and Camp Courant was able to secure $192,000 in corporate and foundation sponsorship. More than 450 people attended the event, which included lavish hors d'oeuvres, delicious brews, great entertainment and exciting silent auction items, all in support of Hartford's kids. Want to support the 2017 Buddy Bash? Become a sponsor, buy a ticket to the event, donate in-kind services (printing, tables, chairs, linens, etc), donate an auction item, or donate food or drinks for the event. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES Hartford's Camp Courant is the oldest and largest FREE summer program in the country, and thanks in part to the support of the greater Hartford community, we have been able to provide a fun and educational experience to Hartford's young people for 122 years. We are always looking for both in-kind and financial support to ensure that we remain viable and sustainable for the next 122 years and beyond. Opportunities include: Sponsor A Camper: • One day: $40.00 • One Week: $200.00 • One Month: $800.00 • Entire summer (six weeks): $1,200 Annual Buddy Bash Gala Sponsorship: Sponsorships range from $250.00-$25,000.00 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Volunteers are the lifeblood of Hartford's Camp Courant, and the ability of people to work together for the betterment of Hartford's young people is an invaluable resource to Camp. There are a number of ways to volunteer with Camp throughout the year, including: • Camp Programming (June 2017-August 2017) Come experience Camp first hand by volunteering alongside our staff and our campers. We are always looking for volunteers to assist in the classroom, help with recreational programming and activities, and serve as chaperones on Camp-sponsored field trips. • Camp Beautification Projects (April thru October, 2017) Our campus in Farmington is beautiful, but we could not keep it looking great without the help of volunteers. During the warmer months, we rely on the dedication of volunteers to help with beautification and clean up at Camp. Activities may include painting, landscaping, clean up and general labor. • Special Events Special events are the perfect opportunity for an individual or group to get involved and be connected with Camp.
