G I V I N G G U I D E 2016 www.HartfordBusiness.com November 22, 2016 • Hartford Business Journal 19 The Greater Hartford Arts Council helps to improve lives and transform communities through the arts, right here in the Capital Region. Our goal is to connect all citizens to the arts in our communities and provide support to the arts and cultural organizations that make Greater Hartford such a vibrant place to live, work and visit. We do this through our United Arts Campaign, an annual, community-wide fundraising effort to raise awareness and support for the arts. Thanks to the generous contributions of area corporations and individuals like you, the Arts Council is able to provide critical operating support to nearly 150 local non-profit arts organizations, allowing them to serve our community with cultural programming, educational opportunities and so much more. To learn more and join the United Arts Campaign, please visit LetsGoArts.org/Join. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES You're invited! Through these mutually beneficial projects, arts organizations receive expert advice, while business volunteers are able to contribute to the sustainability of a local non-profit organization and give back to their community. " " B ecause of the generosity of the Arts Council, we are able to turn on the lights, heat the building, pay people to make our great programming possible. Operating support nourishes Charter Oak Cultural Center so we can bring professional performances to all regardless of their ability to pay for a ticket, free arts classes to over 1,000 underserved Hartford children and educational and employment opportunities to people in the homeless community. None of this would be possible without The Arts Council's deep understanding of what organizations truly need. We are so grateful to the Arts Council for its wise and heartful leadership. – Rabbi Donna Berman , Executive Director, Charter Oak Cultural Center With support from the Arts Council, the Veteran's Art Foundation held a series of mask-making workshops in 2016 to help local veterans cope with the traumas of war.
