Over the course of a weekend, the 156 chair clinic provides free dental care to more than 2,000 people of all ages. Patients are seen by dental and medical volunteers. General volunteers come together to assist in non-dental/ medical areas. Over the last 9 years, the CFDO and CTMOM has served 17,437 patients, and provided more than $11,000,000 in free care. GOALS • Provide free dental care to more than 2,000 people at CTMOM 2017 • Assist patients with finding dental homes • Educate the public and policymakers about the importance of good oral health, and the need for an adequately funded dental safety net • Reach out and provide care to the Veteran and Senior populations • Raise funds for supplies, equipment, volunteer support, and patient support for the clinic • Seek endowment funds to sustain the organization and its programs GIVING OPPORTUNITIES Individuals, Foundations, Corporations can financially support CTMOM in the following ways: Sponsorship — Levels of Sponsorship range from Diamond to Friends. Please contact Dr. Michael Perl, Secretary/Treasurer michaelperl@hotmail.com or Josephine Bicknell, Director of Programs jbicknell@cfdo.org for information regarding the benefits of sponsorship. Funds are needed to operate the clinic. Our ultimate goal is to raise enough funds/endowments to self- sustain the organization, its clinics, and other outreach activities of the foundation. In-kind donations are needed for the clinic. Donations of dental and office supplies, and printing are needed to offset the expenses of the clinic. As it is an enormous undertaking to feed patients and volunteers during the clinic, donations of food/beverages for clinic days are very much needed, and greatly appreciated. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES The Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic is "staffed" by more than 1,200 dental/medical and general volunteers. Volunteers are needed in all areas of the clinic. General volunteer positions available are as follows: Crowd Control, Data Entry, Food Service, Parking, Patient Escorts, Patient Registration, Set-up clinic, Tear down clinic, Translator/ Interpreters, Volunteer Registration, and Waste Management. There are also opportunities to volunteer pre-clinic. Volunteers have stated that it is a pleasure meeting and learning about patients and other volunteers, and that it is one of the most fulfilling things that they do. A quote from one of our volunteers: "I hesitate to call it volunteering because I was paid with hundreds of smiles, piles of appreciation and I learned so much!"
