6 Worcester Business Journal | November 21, 2016 | wbjournal.com B R I E F S Former Apple CEO joins Southborough firm Former Apple CEO John Sculley in November accepted an expanded role at RxAdvance in Southborough, as its new chairman and chief marketing officer. Sculley is a founding investor and has been RxAdvance vice chairman. The new position is his first operating role since leaving Apple. Sculley lead Apple as CEO from 1983 to 1993 and is best known for his clashes with co-founder Steve Jobs over technol- ogy and management styles, which lead to Jobs departing the company. Steward extending reach into Central Mass. The largest healthcare provider in the state is making moves to extended out- side of its Eastern Massachusetts strong- hold through a new partnership with a 200 physician independent practice association based in Central Massachusetts. The partnership between Steward Health Care System and Central Massachusetts Independent Physician Association (CMIPA), which has been approved by the member physicians according to Steward, would extend the influence of the healthcare provider. Steward has a minimal presence in Central Massachusetts with one hospital, Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer. MWCC unveils $38M science center Mount Wachusett Community College has unveiled its 44,000-square-foot Dr. Daniel M. Asquino Science Center, which not only moves science education at the school forward but acknowledges the influence of the school's long-time president, who is set to retire next year. "President Asquino has built deep and meaningful partnerships that have result- ed in a college that is extremely relevant and connected to the students and com- munity it serves. Dr. Asquino has been driven by the belief that education is society's great equalizer and has trans- formed this college into what you see here today," Tina Sbrega, chair of the MWCC Board of Trustees, said in a statement. Daniel Asquino has served as presi- dent of Mount Wachusett Community College since 1987 and is the longest- serving public higher education presi- dent in Massachusetts.
