Healthy harvest The Fourth Annual Heywood Healthcare Healthy Harvest 5K Run/Walk took place on Nov. 5, with about 150 participants taking part. The event was a fundraiser for local mental health initiatives. Participating organizations included Girls on the Run, the Clark Memorial YMCA, Heywood LIFE Center, AED Foundation, LUK Inc., SHINE, CHART, Montachusett Suicide Prevention Task Force, G-Vegas Striders and the Gardner Rotary Club. Taste of generosity Ben Simmoneau, event emcee and WCVB news anchor; and Westborough resident Lauren Schiffman, Natick VNA director of communications, at Natick Visiting Nurse Association's 10th Annual Fresh Taste fundraiser at Elm Bank Reservation in Wellesley. A total of $50,000 was raised for the Natick VNA, with 200 people in attendance. Beam me up State and local officials, business leaders and partners joined with XSS Hotels of Manchester, N.H., to celebrate the construction start of the AC Hotel by Marriott on Front Street in Worcester. Attendees added their names to one of the steel beams. Boosting breast cancer cause Hudson-based Boost Fitness raised $2,600 in October for the National Breast Cancer Foundation with events such as a line-dancing party in Worcester, a gentle yoga session in Northborough and Zumba pink dance parties in Auburn, Hudson and Westford. Venture victory Venture Community Services of Sturbridge was recognized as Employer of Choice Award recipients by the Employers Association of the NorthEast (EANE).
